About

My name is Kari Lajosi and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I’m a toolmaker by trade and I work in the family business – LCM Eng – Precision Tool & Die Makers.

As a keen golfer, I have always had an interest in putters and in 2000 began to make my own. The first was a pretty basic aluminum mallet with a hand bent neck, an old 5 iron shaft and a rubber grip, and was the spark that started my passion for putters.

Seeking an opportunity to precision mill my putters, in 2001 we purchased a CNC milling machine. It wasn’t long before were working on new putter designs, and we made about 5 CNC heads before my work and personal life became very hectic with the birth of my son and daughter.

In 2007 I decided to try and hand mill my own putters. I really enjoyed the whole process of milling, grinding, buffing. Watching the head take shape with each milling pass elevated my passion for making putters. At the end of 2007 I increased my skill set to include running the CNC mill and 3D cad modeling.

In 2008 I started to CNC mill my models and designs, many of them inspired by the great putter-makers. Learning the fine art of CNC milling involved a lot of trial and error, but with each new putter I learnt something new and improved my milling techniques.

In the last 12 months I have been making a number of custom-designed putters for golfers around the world. The feedback I’ve received from putter enthusiasts has been extremely positive and a great fuel for my enthusiasm for the craft.

I pride myself on the fact that I personally complete each step of the putter making process. I handle everything from the 3D modeling of the design and writing the milling programs, to setting the machine and then stamping, buffing/polishing, plating, paint fill, shafting & gripping each putter.

I am very keen to experiment with different designs, milling styles, head types, different metals, necks, stamping and finishes.

My aim is to make putters which inspire confidence in their user through their looks and feel.
My quest to make the perfect putter – is a journey which I greatly look forward to.
